Cool Down

SKU: Cool Down-1

Hawk Buckman™ – Limited Edition Collection
(Wildlife Color Photograph)

From the Artist

Climate change is real. Scientists don’t make it up, despite Super-power eastern and western societies grasping the political small talk based on their political allegiances and choosing to believe it’s fakery or fake news. One minor evidence for climate change is wildlife’s environmental adaptation to human-altered ecosystems and the measurement of that activity. For example, this moose attempted to cool itself down in Trap Lake near Iron Mountain in the Never Summer Mountains of northern Colorado in August of 2017.

Like cows, moose have four stomachs, each with its function but all breaking down and fermenting the coarse plant fibers, which produce internal heat. The fermentation process is why moose prefer cooler temperatures and can endure brutal winters in the high or low country of the Rocky Mountains.

When the temperature rises to 70° Fahrenheit, moose suffer. This is because their body temperatures may rise to as much as 101° if the air temperature outside is above 70°. So they must cool themselves by lying on the cooler ground to prevent overheating or find a water source to bring their body temperature down.

‘Cool Down’ is available as an artist-proof.
