There is a lot to say about this image, some that I can’t say here, but it holds an extraordinary memory for me. A special friend, one who helped save my life, and I took a trip through the Cache la Poudre Canyon to Jackson County, Colorado. We were on our way to Kremmling, CO, to document a wildfire when we stopped at a pullout near the Nokhu Crags east of Gould, CO. The sun had just begun to break the horizon and illuminated the mountains in golden light.
The both of us were a little stunned to see the majesty of the light wrapping the mountains in an otherwordly scene, and we both made images of the mountains. Like all images, this image harbors memories of a time I wish I could revisit and things I’d hoped I could make right. It’s a reminder to stand when you believe nothing is left to stand for and that all life is worth the endeavor, including your own.
