On a trip to Cameron Peak in the summer of 2017, we stopped alongside Highway 14 at a rest stop. Near the restrooms, a snow-melt-flooded area trickled a stream, and Geyer willow flourished. Among the sticks and stems of willow, a Wilson’s Warbler had built a nest where three young birds rested, waiting for the parents to return with food like Mayflies. If you look closely, you’ll see two Mayflies in the bird’s beak. He snatched them from the air as they were mating.
