Hawk Buckman’s Images of Nature
Limited Edition Collection

This image is limited to 50 36″x24″ FujiFlex Crystal Archive photographs.

In January of 2018 I headed out to the mountains of Northern Colorado to explore with my camera.  The roads were clear and the temperature mild on the Front Range but, the higher in elevation I traveled the temperature began to drop.  By the time I arrived near the Blue Lake Trailhead the temperature was -2 F.  Snow covered the ground throughout the forrest.  As I drove along I noticed these aspen trees off the side of the road.  They popped out of the forrest because some leaves had not yet fallen to the ground and were almost blood red creating a stark contrast with the rest of the scene.  I selected my Nikon F5 film camera for the job which was loaded with Kodak Portra 400 transparency film.  I made two images.

I do not offer framing. I’m not familiar with the decor of your home, office or special space. The example framed images (product images) are for judging final image and future frame size.

Quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides) is a deciduous tree native to cooler areas of North America, one of several species referred to by the common name aspen. It is commonly called quaking aspen, trembling aspen, American aspen, mountain or golden aspen, trembling poplar, white poplar, and popple, as well as others.

Quaking aspen has the widest natural range of any tree in North America, spanning 47 degrees of latitude (equal to half the distance from the equator to the North Pole), 110 degrees of longitude (nine time zones), and elevations from sea level to timberline. It is also the largest living organism, growing in clones that reproduce primarily by sending up sprouts from their roots. And as far as the oldest…a clone in Minnesota has been estimated to be 8,000 years old! – Arborday.org

Why FujiFlex?

FujiFlex lightjet printing is a silver halide, true photographic printing material on a polyester base. Sometimes referred to as Fuji Supergloss, the material has an extremely glossy, almost glass like surface resulting in high color saturation, fidelity and depth. Images appear three dimensional, similar in visual characteristic to Ilfochrome (Cibachrome). FujiFlex and Fuji Crystal Archive RC prints are the standard worldwide for photographic fine art printing.
