Mount Richthofen is the highest summit of the Never Summer Mountains range of the Rocky Mountains of North America.
It was -15 degrees Fahrenheit on top of Cameron Pass the morning I set out to make images of the snow covered peaks of the Never Summer Mountains in Jackson County, Colorado. Avalanche conditions were prominent but, that didn’t stop me from ascending from the road surface to a higher elevation to clear the tree tops.
Once I arrived at the spot I wanted to set up my tripod I realized that a storm was blowing onto the Western slope blowing snow vortexes across the peaks. I was able to make about 10 images before disaster struck and I found myself at the bottom of the hill.
