Passing Storm

Hawk Buckman – Images of Nature
Limited Edition (Black & White Film Landscape)

Summer months in western Nebraska offers dynamic skies and weather patterns.  Storms moving from the northwest to east, and southeast push up moisture from the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and form low precipitation cells that hail, and rain out, in heavy, but short lived, down-pours.  These storms seems to form with more ease to the north and south of the North Platte River Valley near Gering and Scottsbluff. This storm formed about 8 miles north of Scottsbluff in June of 2020.  Watching the storm pass I was reminded of a other-worldly landscape that took on the appearance of the Lunar surface rather than the Great North Plains of North America.
