Hawk Buckman – Images of Nature
Limited Edition (Black & White Film Landscape)

This is one of the first images I ever made with my Nikon F5 film camera while exploring Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.  This location in west of downtown Scottsbluff on Highway 92 on the North Platte River.  This area of the river was once a sand, and gravel, mining pit that belonged to Bob Summerville, a long time resident of Scottsbluff.  The mine operated until environmental advocates began raising awareness to pollution  concerns, and the unexpected altering of the rivers course which eventually threatened the destruction of the bridge, and closure of the highway.  The Army Corps of Engineers took possession of the land after the river could no longer be controlled closing the mine and opening the property up to natural evolution.  This area of the river is now considered the only wild, unregulated, section of the river in Scotts Bluff County.
